While we cross our fingers for a new The Last Jedi trailer at Disney’s D23 Expo, Lucasfilm has shared a behind-the-scenes video from the set of Episode VIII. It’s a bittersweet look at Rian Johnson’s film, both exhilarating to see hints of storylines and new characters but also poignant for its glimpses of the late Carrie Fisher.
There are no plot secrets to be blabbed, but you get a sense for the atmosphere of the film. The cast jokes around between takes, but then the moment the cameras start rolling, it’s Star Wars; John Boyega cracks jokes; he and Daisy Ridley dance; there are First Order disguises and training montages and explosions.
But then Fisher is there, talking about how it’s about family, and suddenly you can’t even see the video through your tears. Watch for yourself:
The Last Jedi comes to theaters December 15.
